El caganer is gone

“El caganer” it’s been baned from the Barcelona street “passebre” (Representation of the Nativity Story) because it doesn’t fit anymore with the new civic rules of the city, my ass!!!! Apparently, it’s not good for enduring the good manners of the people.
I don’t know if you know what it means for a Catalan person to take off this figure of the “passebre”. “El caganer ” is a Catalan Chrismas figure represented by a man smoking a pipe, wearing a “barretina” (Catalan hat) and …well, shitting (although, nowadays you can find different versions like: Ronaldiño, GW Bush, etc…all shitting!). It was introduce in the XVIII century by Joan Amades and it represents fertility, good luck and social equality!!! …but it have to be put away from the birth site and have to be move of place everyday.
Well, I’m not the only one angry about it. The people from the Associacio d’amics del caganer are very piss off as well.
I say, let’s start a campain in favor of this emblematic character! …let’s bring back “caganer”‘s dignity.

Living in limbo

I’ve been working from home for about a week…and, is a very strange feeling “going out”.
Is funny that I’ll always imagine that the kind of job that permits you to work from home it will be ideal to me…I was wrong.
I’ve been living in a limbo for the last 9 days and I don’t know anymore which day is today, whats the weather like (insist, my house is very cold…so I guess it’s possibly cold outside…but only guessing) or the timeee…
Anyway, my point is that I couldn’t speak with anyone but Tom…that is nice by the way…but not enough. You know, socialacing …even if is the bus driver…terrible!!
Tomorrow I’ll might come down from the limbo…or maybe not, depends on the super-eficient telefonica people (that they are not!) and the bloody computer staff that are going to be in the Record Guinness Book of next year as the slowest computer setups in history!!!
…or I just become antisocial for a while, mhmm.

Aquellas Pequeñas Cosas

by Joan Manuel Serrat

My favorite toy

Christmas is coming and with it the difficult task of getting the right presents for everyone you care about…or the ones you are meant to care about.
Anyway, is just shopping shopping and more shopping…
What it comes to my memory at this time of the year is my most naïve and innocent period of my childhood when I still believe in the magic of Christmas. At that time, between 4 to 10 years old, every Christmas my father used to take me to the big moll to the toys section. My father, I think, was even more exited than me. He always said he remembers my face shining and my eyes looking around like I was in a kind of trance trying to cope with the situation…
Who doesn’t remember his first bike, or the first Lego…
Despite of that, my favorite toy was a carton box…I know, I’m cheap. I used to play more with the packaging the toy itself.
Do you remember your favorite toy? well, if you want a reminder have a look at this.

New blog

Wellcome to my world.
Right, I see lots of you looking around…I hope you are enjoying it but, for god sake, why don’t you make a comment!?
You can be sincere, tell me what you think! I’ll really appreciate it, I want to improve.

Thank you very much for reading me.

…for all the things that never will be

the Cardigans
“Choke”

A common line
I close my eyes
but couldn’t let it go
the perfect time
I dropped my guard
and lost but won somehow
It’s rather sad
it feels like we’ve never
made it together since
One word ahead
and you’d be dead
I held you in my throat
I stumble by
attached to you
I couldn’t let it go
It’s rather sad
it’s really sad
it feels like we’ve never
made it together since
We’ll never have the guts
to discover
we’ll choke on it and die…

Manchester weekend

I spend last weekend in the Great Manchester City in great company!!!
Leaving the warm Barcelona and arriving to Manchester fucking freezing was a bit of a shock …but then you get used to it…the truth is that in my house with no heating is as bad.
Apart from the weather, is an impressive city that it surprisingly warm in politeness and friendly. Everyone is more than willing to help…something not so usual in Barcelona. Manchester is wellcoming, attractive and interesting. I have to say that I didn’t really made my most of it…i mean, I could have done more touristy walks, but is not my style. Insted I spend 4 days going around in the company of three good friends guiding me around the city in their own way…well, most of the time they were a little bit confuse where we meant to be going but at the end we all arrived to a good port and had …lets say, interesting approach to the aims. Well done you !!!
And what i can say about my host. Well, he really knows how to treat a guest, I tell you…he even cleaned the whole house before I arrive and let me sleep in his bed while he took my crap sleepingbag and sleep in the sofa…how is that!!! wow
And the mates: the crazy-hair Rachel and big-mouth Tom (by the way i need your emails!)
Well, making the story short, my weekend is been : cold, beer, walks, discovering, exploring, good company, nice wine, very good food, good conversation…thank you for a good time Christine, Chris and Matt.

New job

Yes, I start my new job in CTC (Concorci per la Transmisió de Coneixement) as a Assistant Mananager….wow. I know it sounds big but at the moment I didn’t go very far…what i mean is that the office is not fully operating till February and there’s no telephone, or desk, or computer. So, at the moment I’m working from home till …is ready, I guess.

Evolwhat?!!!

Evolution suffers Kansas setback

(article from BBC News)

The US state of Kansas has approved science standards for public schools that cast doubt on evolution. The Board of Education’s vote, expected for months, approved the new language criticising evolution by 6-4. Proponents of the change argue they are trying to expose students to legitimate scientific questions about evolution. Critics say it is an attempt to inject creationism into schools, in violation of the constitutional separation between church and state. The decision is part of an ongoing national debate over the teaching of evolution and intelligent design. The theory of intelligent design holds that the universe is so complex that it must have been created by a higher power. Definition of science Tuesday’s vote was the third time in six years that the Kansas board has rewritten standards with evolution as the central issue. Current state standards treat evolution as well-established, a view held by national science groups The new standards include several specific challenges, including statements that there is a lack of evidence or natural explanation for the genetic code, and charges that fossil records are inconsistent with evolutionary theory. It also states that says certain evolutionary explanations “are not based on direct observations… and often reflect… inferences from indirect or circumstantial evidence”. “This is a great day for education,” board chairman Steve Abrams told the Reuters news agency. Decisions about what is taught in Kansas classrooms will remain with 300 local school boards, but the new standards will be used to develop student tests measuring how well schools teach science. Educators fear pressure will increase in some communities to teach less about evolution or more about creationism or intelligent design. A federal judge in Pennsylvania is expected to rule soon in a lawsuit against a school district policy that requires science teachers to say that evolution is unproven.
