Brixton, London!

dsc01844.jpgLast weekend I’ve spend it in London visiting my aunt Choni who is living in Brixton for a few month.
I arrange a kind of a family trip to London for my two cousins, Victor and Cristina, my aunt Pepa and me. We took a couple of days off and had a great weekend (better than I spected…well, they are lovely, but you know… family and arguments always go together!!!).
My aunt, despite her 5 month in London, she hasn’t manage to improve at all her English, in fact I think is worst than before, but I guess is perfectly understandable after spending sometime there. There’s Spanish people everywhere…I think I spoke more Spanish in London than in Barcelona (lots of “guiris” here!!)
There we did the usual: visit some sites and do some shopping in the typical-London-tourist-attraction-markets (by the way…I discover that they change the price. If you go to the market on the weekend is more expensive than on the weekdays!!)
One think I like about this time in London is the opportunity of staying in Brixton. The impression most people have about Brixton is that it’s dangerous and doggy. Even the people who live in London will never put their feet on the neighborhood. In fact, my aunt was telling me that some of her friends who live in the center once decided to visit her place, and as they step out of the underground they rushed back in because they felt unsafe…bollocks them!! I’ve spended 4 days there and it’s like Raval in Barcelona: multicultural, good music, friendly people and hairdressers that open after midnight!!
About the music, by the way, one night we went to this little bar in Brixton (can’t remember the name) to have a beer and there was this two guys playing jazz…It was brilliant! So I enjoyed the music while my aunt was updating her love live with my cousin…so everybody had a good time!. Apparently, there’s lots of pubs and bars in this district that have live music everynight and mainly jazz!
The night before we left we went out, but seriously this time. One thing that surprise me, I mean irritated me, was the London-pulling-behavior of men in general…men are so direct that put you off!!! …but I manage to not pay a single drink in all night…even saying that I was engaged…it’s provably the dress I bought in Candem…definitely, because I had never had so much attention around me in all my live!!! (…or they are very very desperate…). I think is because of this that my aunt don’t want to come back to Spain, hehe.
So, as I was saying, we went to this club call “on the rocks” that plays ska and reggae. It was great, the music and the ambient. Everyone was dress like in the sixties and they play Doc. Alimantado!!!! …fantastic, I’m determined to take Tom there someday!! When they closed, around 3 am, we moved to another club (I can’t even remember how we got there) guided by this ex-lover of my aunt (a bit of a twat…by the way!) and his friend (even worst…if it can be!) that was trying, while preforming his role as a guide, to get in my cousins bra!!! His words:” I like Spanish women’s shape…they are so proportioned: good ass and good tits…by the way, can I touch yours?” …and my cousin:”no way” …him:” Gosh, you are so tight”…my cousin:”For you I am and you are an asshole (in spanish=gillipollas!!)!!!”
So, we went to this ‘After’ and we dance and dance till the sun came through the curtains. There were lots of weirdos around this place. I was talking to a guy with a camera at some point that was doing a documentary…or some sort of recollection of data about Spain…I talk with him for a while till I realize he was filming…God knows what’s on that tape!!!
All in all it was fun and a good opportunity to spend some time with my cousins…that, by the way, I don’t see that often. I feel bad for Victor because he is just 13 years old and he wanted to go out with us. So we, Cristina and me, made the promes that when he gets to 18 we all go back to London I go out again, to celebrate!!!!

Is Saturday night…

Is Saturday night, but you could say is Sunday morning. Is 2:18 pm by my computer.
I just came back from a free concert of “Baron Rojo” held in my town for the local festivities. Their are this kind of Spanish old heavy metal band from the 80’s that seems to keep on going till they die but they are pretty average…and because of that they never make it in the big business…because of that they are playing in Cerdanyola (my town, a suburb of Barcelona) for free.
Today is been a great day. It’s been one of those days you don’t expect much of but it and becomes something memorable. Today’s has been a memorable day.
We woke up at 10.30 am; have a coffee at home; got to Barcelona; get in to shape (in the train); get to this f****** pretentious restaurant by the Barceloneta Beach (by the way, pretentious but good restaurant: Shoko) and have a good meal (but very very over price)!
Then we got to see this kind of kinky sort of flying show for free at the beach of Bogatell that was more than busy (fact that put me off considerably!) and run home for some peace and some tapas by the stinky manky river of Cerdanyola. As we finish, Tom, Rob and me head up to our home for some more drinks and waited for Adam to come back from the Nou Camp. After some deliberations we decided, unanimously, that we go to this concert…and then I was far to tired to carry on…seriously, I think I’m getting old.
But, nevertheless, I had fun.

Hot Fuzz

Simon Pegg, writer and lead actor of Shawn of the Dead (great film!!!! that I’m sure you know otherwise you should!!!!!!!) talks about  his training for his new film Hot Fuzzhe is so cute!!! …ups, sorry about that, here you have the video.

No Mires MTV

MTv Spain launched this new viral marketing campaign.
I think is hilarious!!

Very very funny website..look.

IMG_2237.jpgItran is the new Flamenco band of my lovely sweet cousin Cristina. They just start playing in small bars in Gràcia (district of Barcelona) and they do it pretty well, I say…but I’m not an expert.
My cousin is been a consistant singer all her live. I think she start singing even before she could talk.
Well, I don’t know if they ever become something big but here it is the first songs they’ve recorded…and remember…you hear it here first !!!!…and, by the way…I already contract them for my wedding!!

With or without

IMG_2274.jpgI’m back after a long time. We been disconnected of the internet for a while and I was starting to go nuts. First because Tom and I have to fight to get hold on the TV control and secondly because I can’t live without the net…and the worst is having to fight back on the phone with the internet provider costumer service. I really thing thouse services are patience-testers. They carry on passing you to someone else once you finish explaining all the problems you have …and then, start again because they do not pass the f**** information to one another…it’s a bloody nightmare.
So after long time trying to get back I’m back and without sleep at 3 o’clock in the morning on the start of the last day of my holidays trying to update my blog now Tom is asleep and I don’t have to fight to use the computer..hehe.
Well, since the last time I wrote the weather got a lot better, despite the eventual rain. We got to 30ºC today and is getting hotter!!! Is been a wonderful long Easter, at least for me. I got 10 days holidays…I didn’t have as many since We went to Australia in 2004!!!…Tom just got 4 days. So at the beginning of the week, seeing the perspective I had ahead staying at home becoming Tom’s dream-house-wife (…sorry, but is never going to happend…I am in fact very bad housekeeper…) I decided to abandon him for a few days and go to Tarragona to visit my family for a change and try to get some things done for the wedding.
I did visit the family, and a lot…but nothing much else…well, yes we went to a sort of and excursion to the Delta del Ebro that took most of the time I spend in Tarragona because of some problem people have to arrive on time to places (not giving more details).

Then, the rest of my holidays I have been like an old lady: gardening, painting, going for walks…is been more relaxing than exciting but good to sort things at home…still more painting to come thou If we want to have a presetable house for the wedding….lkjaiguyrlitgsvnxbcveiuoq.
Ups, I almost forgot, Tom and I decided to start going to the Gim. I have to say, that besides my heat for this tourtour places and my lack of will to be constant, I manage (..ok, yes…is not me is Tom that wakes me up in the morning….) to go to swimming every morning before going to work for the last 2 weeks. Lest see how much more I can do…who knows, maybe I become a superwoman by the end of the summer or a another quitter by the end of this month!

Spring, spring …

Last weekend was fantastic. It felt like Spring has just arrived … in Cerdanyola, at least.
We waited so long for the Spring to come that it seems as it was never going to come.
On Friday we maneged to clear the terrace and Saturday was so good to seat around with a cold drink, sunglasses on and the sunshine on the face…almost hot enough to be just with a t-shirt!!!
It’s in moments like this when Tom and I really appreciate living in Spain…I don’t even want imagine what’s the weather like at this time in England….lkjdhgflkjfhglidygkjh…Here is all in bloom, the flowers, the trees, the teenagers…and the dodgy pigeons meeting again!…you stupid old woman, STOP FEEDING THEM!!!! COLLONS!
..and then, today comes with a dark cloudy day again. High expectancies normally take to big disappointments…the cold weather came back and it came to my mind my grandma’s wise words: “hasta el cuarenta de mayo, no te saques el sayo”!!! (not even going to translate this…you’ll work it out…sure!)…except if you are in El Corte Ingles; they are always early!
But, anyway, Summer is coming inevitable and with it the heat, the festivals, the icecreams, the holidays, the suntans (I really need some…brrrrrrrrrrr, I’m starting to look a bit green!!), the meals in the terrace, the drinks in the “xiringuitos” by the beach,….
…and the mosquitoes, little bastards..always spoiling the moment!!
And, almost forgot, the bird flu!!! I heard something very wired yesterday; they mention on a program (I can’t remember witch one) that it is possible that the cause of the pandemic of Spanish Flu in 1918 could have been a bird flu!!!…I can’t tell, but after all this time talking about it I heard no one even mentioning it before…oh well, I guess it is a possibility.
So, lets see what this Spring might be!!!!

Hey, there’s a NEW homepage, for toM and geMMa!

We, my fiancee and I, have created a new homepage for everyone to see that we actually doing something about our wedding and to prove (as an addvice) how bloody hard is getting married (and expensive) in this country, Spain, when one of the partners is a foreigner.

Have a look at

Black Books

black books Recently Tom got the 3 series of Black Books. We almost watch them all …we didn’t watch them all because Tom wants to make it last…if it was for me I’ll probably watch it non stop, it is hilarious!!!
Black books is a British dark comedy series based on a 3 selfcenter-characters and a bookshop. I love the way they manage the script making rude remarks in a direct but sarcastic way…those kind of answers you wish you come up to insult someone in a elegant way when they piss you off but you don’t want to get to their level…well, …when you want to disarm them….so, no possible reply. It’s almost like Katherin Hepburn in Philadelphia Stories insulting Cary Grant. But, unfortunately, it’s just in the first series. As more episodes pass, fewer clever remarks and more silliness…almost disappointing but still funny compare to other comedy programs that aim for that type of humor…
Basically, it is: wine , wine, cigarettes, wine, books, some more wine and some rudeness, with a hint of some very funny cameos of famous British comedians.
Highly recommended!!!!

I’ve survived the suicidal age!!!

 hey…I’m not 27 anymore…in other words, I’m 28…yes, I know…late 20’s.

Well, at least I manage to survive to the suicidal age of 27 and I’m not going to be a legend (Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, James Dean, Jimi Hendrix)… well, I didn’t really start any celebrity career…so what was I expecting!!!…and I’ve been very happy in the recent years, so here I’m and for a long time, hehe.
